Trip Details

Experience Polar Bears in their natural habitat with a Private Guided Expedition to the Arctic Ocean along the Chukchi Sea and Beaufort Sea. And if ice conditions permit it I will land you on the sea ice in our ski equipped Super Cub!  Just that alone is spectacular!  Imagine that, landing in the Polar Bears natural habitat on the frozen Arctic Ocean in a ski equipped Super Cub!  How many people in the world have done that? A nearly infinitesimal number.  You need to add your name to that extremely short list!

Polar Bear are not only the largest bears on earth but they are also the largest land carnivores on earth!  Some are massive in size.  But not to worry…Over the years I have spent many months as a Bear Guard deep in some of the remotest parts of Alaska.  And right about now you’re wondering; “A Bear Guard? What on earth is a Bear Guard?”  Well the term Bear Guard is kind of a misnomer.  It sounds like we are guarding bears!  But the reality is that a bear doesn’t need a guard, people need to be guarded from bear!  A Bear Guard is the person who guides scientists, researchers and others through the Alaska Bush acting as their security from bear attacks.  And yes, bears have attacked people, and although it is quite rare we don’t take chances. When it comes to bear, it is far better to be prepared and not need it than to be unprepared and need it.  Not being prepared for a bear encounter is akin to not wearing your seat belt because you have not had a car wreck.

Along with a weapon a Bear Guard carries a backpack with enough survival and first aid gear to keep everyone in his charge alive, healthy, and comfortable for several days in case the team gets weathered in and the helicopter or airplane cannot make the pick up schedule on time.

So leave your worries at home on the shelf and come with us on a Private Guided Polar Bear Viewing Experience.  It will be one of the most fascinating things that you have ever done!  And remember, we video tape (and edit) the whole thing for you!  How would you like to have that to show your family, friends, and colleagues?  You can't even put a price on that treasure!

There are experiences that are written in indelible ink on our minds which change our lives forever…Let us design an epic one for you.

The Fine Print:

Number of Guests We Can Accommodate:  One or Two. For added safety, and to make your adventure much more comfortable, we always take two airplanes on every adventure, whether it is for one guest or two. Both airplanes depart and arrive at the destinations at the same time.  Two Pilot/Guides, two Super Cubs, for either one or two guests! (Currently we take a maximum of two guests per trip).

Length of Trip: 7 and 14 days trips area available, not counting your arrival and departure dates

Dates Available:  During the months of April and May, and September and October

Lodging--Arrival/Departure:  A one night stay at your arrival and departure destination in Fairbanks is included in the cost.  We will make the reservations for you at a very nice hotel in Fairbanks

We Offer You Two Options For Lodging During This Private Guided Alaska Air Adventure:

  1. We furnish a very comfortable tent camp (during September only) that is carried in the airplane for each nights stay. You will have your own private tent, and a very comfortable cot.  We can even furnish the sleeping bag if you desire.  Please see additional details about our tent camp amenities below.

  2.  Or you can choose a combination of our tent camp and staying in a nice hotel.  (During the months of April, May and October we only offer hotel stays due to the cold weather)

  • The Aurora Hotel is located at Deadhorse http://theaurorahotel.net/  The cost for each nights stay at the Aurora Hotel is an additional $275 per night (double occupancy) which includes all meals that are cafeteria style. (I have eaten there on several occasions and the food is very good and lots of it).  All of Deadhorse and Prudhoe Bay is dry—meaning no alcohol is allowed there—which is understandable given that it is an operating oil field facility.

  • The Top Of The World Hotel is located at Utqiaġvik (formally Barrow)  https://www.tundratoursinc.com/.  The room rate there is $300 per night (double occupancy) plus meals. There is a restaurant in the hotel. Utqiaġvik is also a dry city.

Neither are a luxury lodge but they are nice hotels.  We will fly you to and from your hotel each day of your Private Alaska Polar Bear Adventure.  We will make the reservations for you. We do not mark up the cost and we receive no kickbacks from the hotels.

Because the option of staying in hotels combined with our tent camp (only during the month of September) this is a custom type of private adventure we will need to discuss this with you to see how many nights you want to split between camping and staying in a hotel in September.

Hygiene While Camping:  We carry a small portable hot water shower in the airplane along with a portable shower stall, and a wash basin with hot water. We also set up a portable toilet with a privacy enclosure.  For longer trips we make arrangements for you to do your laundry.

Meals—Tent Camp:  All meals prepared at our luxury tent camps are included in the cost (alcohol is not included).  Breakfast is usually eggs, cereal, oatmeal or pancakes.  Lunch is sometimes Fresh Caught Fish (off the fly rod and onto the grill kind of fresh) grilled on the shore where you (or your guide) caught them, or Smoked Alaska Salmon, or a Moose Burger and homemade bread.  For the evening meal we usually grill Wild Alaska Salmon, Halibut, Caribou, Moose, or Fresh Caught Fish, along with serving vegetables.  However, if you are a vegetarian or have any food allergies we can tailor the menu to fit your needs.

Other Meals: Taken at restaurants or lodges are for our guests account and expense

Cost: Call +1-907-414-1406 for pricing. We accept Cash, Debit Cards, Credit Cards, and Personal or Company Checks. (Debit & Credit Card transactions will be charged an additional 3.5% to cover processing fees)

Terms:  50% down to hold your reservation.  (50% refund for cancellations made 60 days prior to your arrival date).  Balance (50%) is due 60 days prior to your arrival date.
