Trip Details

Western Alaska…one of my favorite places on planet Earth, (and I have traveled in extensively in 16 countries).I have spent a great deal of time in Western Alaska (about 10 years) and I enjoyed every minute of it.  My wife has spent a good deal of time with me there and she fell in love with it. While in that part of the world I have been in life and death winter survival situations, and I have had many very pleasant and rewarding experiences.

When I first moved to Nome I met Eskimo people that did not speak a word of English, people who only a few years earlier still led a nomadic lifestyle. At that time I was able to pick up enough of their language, Inuit, to get the gist of what they were saying but I was only able to speak a few words. Being able to understand what they are saying and being able to speak Inuit are two entirely different matters!

Westerner Alaska is truly a fascinating place! It has a very rich history of gold mining and a lot of mining still takes place today. You will see country that is covered in Spruce trees and then like a big hand drew a line on the earth and you will break out into vast expanses of open tundra where you will be able to see for many miles. You will visit isolated Eskimo villages and fish in some of the very best and most productive waters on earth!

And then there are the two hot springs that you will be able to soak in, Pilgrim and Serpentine!

And you will receive a professionally filmed and edited legacy video of your extraordinary adventure to show family, friends, and colleagues.

There are experiences that are written in indelible ink on our minds which change our lives forever…Let us design an epic one for you.

The Fine Print:

  • Number of Clients We Can Accommodate:  One or Two.  For added safety, and to make your adventure much more comfortable, we always take two airplanes on every adventure, whether it is for one guest or two. Both airplanes depart and arrive at the destinations at the same time.  Two Pilot/Guides, two Super Cubs, for either one or two guests! (Currently we take a maximum of two guests per trip).

  • Length of Trip: 14 days, not counting your arrival and departure dates

  • Dates Available:  From May through September

  • Lodging--Arrival/Departure:  A one night stay at your arrival and departure destination in Anchorage is included in the cost.  We will make the reservations for you at a very nice hotel

  • We Offer You Three Options For Lodging During This Private Guided Alaska Air Adventure:

  1. We furnish a very comfortable tent camp (that is carried in the airplane) for each nights stay. You will have your own private tent, a very comfortable cot, and a sleeping pad.  We can even furnish the sleeping bag if you desire.

  2. Or you can choose a combination of our very comfortable tent camp and staying in a very nice hotel.  We will fly you to and from the hotel each day of your Private Alaska Air Adventure.  In Nome the nicest hotel is Dredge N0. 7 Inn https://www.dredge7inn.com/ Cost is $250 per night double occupancy.  The Dredge No. 7 Inn does not have a restaurant, but there are several restaurants in town.  In Kotzebue the nicest place to stay is the Nullagvik Hotel which has a nice restaurant http://www.nullagvikhotel.com/  Cost is $279 per night double occupancy. We will make the reservations for you. We do not mark up the cost and we receive no kickbacks from the hotels.  Because this option of staying in hotels combined with our tent camp is a custom type of private adventure we will need to discuss this with you to see how many nights you want to split between camping and staying in a hotel.  You can choose any combination of the tent camp and hotel stay that you desire.  So if the weather gets marginal and you decide that the hotel is the best option for you on any given night, we will fly you back to the hotel for the night. The choice is yours every day.  Your nice room will be waiting for you!  Please remember that there will be some camping involved because of the sheer distance we will travel.

  3. You can also choose to stay in hotels and lodges for the entire adventure.

  • Hygiene While Camping:  We carry a small portable hot water shower in the airplane along with a portable shower stall, and a wash basin with hot water. We also set up a portable toilet with a privacy enclosure.  For longer trips we make arrangements for you to do your laundry.

  • Meals—Tent Camp:  All meals prepared at our tent camps are included in the cost (alcohol is not included).  Breakfast is usually some combination of eggs & breakfast meat, cereal, oatmeal or pancakes.  Lunch is sometimes Fresh Caught Fish (off the fly rod and onto the grill kind of fresh) grilled on the shore where you (or your guide) caught them, or Smoked Alaska Salmon, or a Moose Burger on a homemade bun.  For the evening meal we usually grill Wild Alaska Salmon, Halibut, Caribou, Moose, or Fresh Caught Fish, along with serving vegetables.  However, if you are a vegetarian or have any food allergies we can tailor the menu to fit your needs.

  • Other Meals: Taken at restaurants or lodges are for the guests account and expense

  • Cost:  Call +1-907-414-1406 for pricing. We accept Cash, Debit Cards, Credit Cards, and Personal or Company Checks. (Debit & Credit Card transactions will be charged an additional 3.5% to cover processing fees)
